This post was sparked by the stack of semi read books stacked on my husband’s night stand. At the bottom lies “Unlimited Doubles!!”by Steve Tourdo. The cover shouts, FINALLY….a “SYSTEM” for out-playing your opponents in tennis. Anytime. Anywhere. GUARANTEED. I’m thinking that its a reference tool, much like a dictionary, always at the ready. Next in the pile is an older Tom Clancy novel “Shadow Warriors” that was borrowed from my cousin’s condo in Maui two years ago. Atop Clancy’s book is Denis Johnson’s “Tree Of Smoke”. This book got a lot of good press, won the National Book Award for Fiction and was on all the “best of 2007″ lists. I think 50 pages were read before being pronounced “too wordy”. “A Dream In Polar Fog” by Yuri Rytkheu is a book I suggested my husband read. It was a book club favorite and so far is receiving 2 thumbs up (there’s a small pun here if you by any chance have read the book). “The Match” by Mark Frost is a recent birthday gift. A tale about a best-ball golf match at famed Pebble Beach that guy friends and the book jacket describe as an edge-of-your-seat read.
