The summer reading lists are out and a common theme to this year’s lists are books that offer the reader a ‘literary vacation’ as opposed to a real gas guzzling one. Of the 139 titles determined by critics and booksellers around the country to be hot, sizzling, great, noteworthy, memorable (you get the picture), only 33 appear on two or more lists. No title appears on all of the lists; “America America” by Ethan Canin comes the closest, appearing on six of the lists.
