This past week I went with a couple of friends of mine to see ‘The Reader’ which is up for best picture. Note: If you have not seen the movie and plan to do so, you might want to skip reading the rest of this. Only one of us had read the book byprior to seeing the movie. Needless to say, I had lots of questions once the the final credits rolled. “Why did Hannah hang herself?”; “Why didn’t ‘the kid’ reveal to authorities that she was illiterate and therefore unable to write the document that condemned her?” “If ’the kid’ didn’t care enough to save Hannah from life imprisonment, why did he go to all the trouble and hours of reading and sending her books on tape?” ”What concentration camp was it that ‘the kid’ visited? ”Why does Kate Winslet look so good naked?” ”Why can’t I get the plot out of my head?” The Internet is a wonderful thing. Reading the plot line off of Wikipedia really helped me to understand a lot of the movies’ innuendo. I would love to keep the discussion going. Who’s in?

I finally saw The Reader—I think the answer to all your questions is guilt, in one form or another. Except for why she looks good & I have to say youth & great lighting
I am going to go to wikipedia & read the plot line now. No doubt I have missed something!
