For those of you wondering if Amazon’s Kindle 2, is the eReader for you, take a look.
Sony vs Amazon: In this month’s issue (March) of More magazine, Sara Nelson, a former editor of Publishers Weekly, weighs in on both the Amazon Kindle ($400) and the Sony Digital Reader ($300). (I couldn’t find an online link.)
Bottom line: Don’t invest in either unless you buy more than 3 to 6 books annually. You would need to purchase at least 30 titles to break even the first year. If, however, you are a frequent flyer or your job involves a lot of paperwork, here are some things to consider:
Downloading a book – Amazon Kindle wins hands down (200,00 titles and 1,000 blogs). Sony Digital Reader requires you to install software to download and then transfer to Reader (55,000 titles).
Packaging - Sony wins for it’s sleekness. Amazon has a Fisher-Price quality to it.
Sony Reader is best if you want to add Word documents and PDFs.
