I had to read this book for my book club and I was afraid the letter format would be a turn off. But I loved every minute, reading this book. It was like reading the Bronte and Austin books of my youth with a twist to current humor and sensibilities. I can’t wait for my daughter and my mother to read it. It is a classic.

This book started out a little slow for me. Maybe it was all the rave reviews I had heard. It wasn’t until Julia arrived in Guernsey (part 2) where this book really took off for me and became fun to read.
