The Hour I First Believed

Shop Indie Bookstores Another LONG one from Mr. Lamb. If you liked the first 2 you will like this one also. It begins with the school shootings at Columbine HS and ends up in CT with the current story mixed in with the very interesting history of the main characters family. Lots of plot lines [...]

Bad Luck & Trouble

Shop Indie Bookstores I enjoyed this book as I have enjoyed all the Jack Reacher books. Quick read, good plot, interesting characters. Jack is a former MP who can do pretty much everything, he is “loved by women & feared by men, & admired by all”. Book Author: Lee Child This post was submitted by [...]

Eat, Pray, Love

Perhaps I had heard too many rave reviews, bit I was disappointed in this book. I enjoyed the first 1/3, the “eat” section–I laughed & even shed a tear, but as it went on I felt it was tedious & I was glad to finish & move on. Book Author: Elizabeth Gilbert This post was [...]

Water For Elephants

Shop Indie Bookstores I loved this book. The main character is elderly & in assisted living & part of the book is about his life right now, but the main story is about his experiences as a young man working for a traveling circus during the Great Depression. Its fascinating & a book I hated [...]

The Divide

I enjoyed The Divide. Its the story of an interesting family & what divides them–the play on words is that the family vacations at a ranch called The Divide, and it is this place & the people they meet there that create the plot, which centers on the daughter who becomes an ecoterroist. Book Author: [...]

The Art of Racing In The Rain

This is the story of a man who is a race car driver & his family—but it is “written” by his dog. In addition to being a wonderful story there is a lot of info about car racing. At times it is humorous but I also needed a few Kleenex. I couldn\’t put it down [...]

Some Things That Stay

This is a book from 2000, but I just found it & really enjoyed it. Its the story of a teenager named Tamara whose family moves every year & she just wants to stay someplace & live a normal life. Interesting family & situations. Set in the 1950′s with air raids at school, TB, & [...]

I Feel Bad About My Neck

This is a short fun book for women of a certain age—I\’m not sure how young to can be & still enjoy it but baby boomers will find it very funny. I laughed out loud a number of times. Also a fun look at New York City. Grab a turtleneck & enjoy. Book Author: Nora [...]

Edgar Sawtelle

Definitely 5 stars, I loved this book. It is long but I still didn’t want it to end. Basically its a boy & his dog story, but so much more. Hard to describe. I highly recommend it. Book Author: David Warblewski This post was submitted by cherylb.
