I loved this book. The stories of the black maids that wait on white families in Jackson, Mississippi in the sixties are powerful and poetic. For more insight I’ve posted the link to B&N’s Studio interview with the author. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-Help/Kathryn-Stockett/e/9780399155345

This book started out a little slow for me. Maybe it was all the rave reviews I had heard. It wasn’t until Julia arrived in Guernsey (part 2) where this book really took off for me and became fun to read.

This was our book club pick for May. Liked the book, I just hated the ending. Now that I know it is suppose to be shades of Hamlet (read Wikipedia's synopsis), I understand the whys of it more. Our book club gave it a big thumbs up. Great discussion and any unfinished questions can be answered on Oprah's book club site.
4 stars.

This is a fascinating read, combining gruesome multiple murders with the history of the Chicago Worlds Fair. All true. If you are interested in architecture or history, you'd enjoy this, even with out the super creepy murders. 5 stars

I loved it. My husband even read it and felt the same. And lots of times, we read totally different books. I think the history and the story hooked him.

I have read several of Henning Mankell's vivid mysteries and always look forward to being transported to southern Sweden and being totally involved in the process of solving yet another murder. The character's are memorable and their lives continue to unfold in each book so they seem like family. I look forward to seeing the PBS series.
